Superbowl 2012

Willie was so excited cuz he kept thinking they were saying "go Cats" but now realizes they were just saying "go Pats"...No cat teams merely makes it a bowl, not a superbowl, aka...meaningless!

Willie's Sister Jellie

UGH! Willie was looking forward to a calm relaxing weekend. Instead, Willie came home from work last night to his sick feline sister Jellie...Fever, not eating, and lethargic. Willie just thinks it is plain wrong for a kitty named after a delicious food condiment to not want to eat! Willie even tried sharing his special favorite Fancie Feast with Jellie. Willie is purraying that his sister Jellie feels better soon!

A Purring Record!

Willie heard that there is a cat named Smokey that lives in Pitsford, England who possibly has the loudest purr in the world! Willie read that Smokey purrs at an amazing 73 decibels, which is about 16 times louder than the purring of an average cat (and comparable to the volume of a lawn mower). Willie would rather wake up to the sound of Smokey purring than a rooster any day!

Happy Furrsday

What a stressful week for Willie! Willie's feline sister Notmeg could not get her surgery this week because her leg developed a severe infection. Willie's canine sister Paddie was feeling poorly and had to have lots of tests done to try to figure out why. Willie's canine sister Lacie's insulin requirements have changed again. And Willie's feline sister See-error was supposed to get spayed but Willie's mom forgot to withhold her breakfast the day of her surgery. Willie is exhausted and appreciates this Furrsday off!

Willie's Sister Notmeg

Willie is sooooooo stressed today. Willie's feline sister Notmeg has to have another surgery today to try and heal her broken leg. Willie's mom and dad rescued Notmet 4 months ago. Willie's mom has already done 2 surgery's in order to repair the leg, but both surgeries have failed. Willie has been told if this one does not help her, the next step is to amputate Notmeg's leg. Please purray for Willie's sister Notmeg today!

Happy 90th Birthday Betty White!

Willie wishes Miss Betty White a Happy 90th Birthday today! Betty White has been a life-long animal advocate. She received the American Veterinary Medical Association's Humane Award in 1987 for her charitable work, and the Los Angeles Zoo recognized the comedian with a bronze plaque near the Gorilla Exhibit in 2006, when she was officially named the tourist attraction's Ambassador to the Animals. Willie's dream is to someday meet the famous Betty White!

National Dress Up Your Pet Day

Since every day is dress up day for Willie, Willie decided to celebrate National Dress Up Your Pet Day differently and has streaked for the occasion! WOO HOO for Willie!

Willie's Feline Furriend "Clutch" Grussemeyer's Moving Adventure

Clutch has been wanting to tell Willie and his Cat Clinic friends all about
stepping out of his comfort zone but his parents have been too busy with
all the moving, holidays, work, and wedding planning to help him
type....but finally!

It was pretty scary having the movers packing up the house in Cary and
seeing all these strangers coming in to take furniture out that my parents
didn't want. I was more comfortable hiding out in the attic. So coming to
your inn for a few days after the house was empty and sold was a welcome
relief. When Mom came to get me, she had to pull me out of my room to put
me in my carrier. I was glad Dr Hodge gave me some juice in a syringe for
the 6-hr trip to Atlanta because 2 miles was the furthest I'd ever ridden
before, and I was never excited about that. I was purrfectly happy for
most of the car ride. I even wanted to check out the car but my mom made
me stay in my carrier, so I settled back down and went to sleep. In
Atlanta, we stayed for 2 weeks with Chad (Mom's son) and his dog and cat.
I knew the dog and he always wanted to chase me so I wasn't very excited to
see him, to say the least. The cat, Busty, wasn't terribly excited to have
me in her turf, but she finally came around and didn't even mind when I ate
some of her food. But most of the 2 weeks was spent under the bed, hiding
from the dog. The one day I got brave enough to come out to the living
room on my own, they packed me up and put me in the car again, this time
for a much bigger trip to Austin Texas. At this point, I was happy to ride
in the car, even though it was for 11 hours. I'm sure that juice in the
syringe helped! When we stopped and they let me out, I was in another very
strange place, a hotel, and I inspected every nook and cranny of it. I was
disappointed I couldn't get under the bed (it sat on a wood frame), so once
the lights were out, I crawled under the covers and stayed at the foot of
the bed, just in case a dog was around. The next day we only spent 6 hrs
in the car...piece of cake at this point!

When we arrived at Chelsea's (Mom's daughter) in Austin, there was another
big dog (1-yr-old goldendoodle) there, much to my dismay. Izzie didn't
chase me though...I learned that hissing and swatting my clawless foot
really fast kept her at her distance, even though she really just wanted to
smell me. I couldn't get under the bed in our room (again!) so I hid in
the back of the closet while Izzie was out. When she went to bed and her
door was closed, I roamed all over. A few times, her mom petted both of us
at the same time, and I grew comfortable with that. Back in Cary, I went
outside at home at will, just staying out a little while...I really miss
that. So my dad decided to take me out in Izzie's fenced backyard one
afternoon. I was enjoying smelling all the new smells until I heard a dog
running closer in the yard behind us. The fence was solid so I couldn't
see it, but when it got close and started barking, I panicked and for the
first time in my life, I managed to climb a tree in a flash! But then I
didn't know what to do, and my parents didn't like how I was breathing so
hard with my mouth open and teeth showing. My dad must have visited 10
houses before he found one with a ladder. Once he got me down, I couldn't
wait to get back in the house. I never went near the door again!

This past Sunday, we packed up yet again and I was really hoping we were
going home to our house in Cary, but we went to a one-bedroom apartment
just 5 minutes away. At least it's just me and my parents at this place.
I can roam freely without worry, and our routines are more what I'm used
to. I really like climbing on the kitchen counter, then the frig, and then
the top of the upper cupboards. I sit in the corner up there and can see
across the living room and out the window. They think I am getting
bored...there's not much 'stuff' in this apartment, or rooms to visit, so
they are going to Petsmart this weekend to get me some catnip and
catnip-filled mice, which I always loved to toss under furniture back in
Cary. We're on the 3rd floor, and that balcony intrigues me, but it's been
too cold to go out on it, and my mom's worried I'll jump up on the railing
and give her a heart attack, so I don't know if I'll ever get out on it.

We miss you, but look forward to finally getting settled in our new house
in Florida and with our own furniture (now in storage in Raleigh). That
won't be until after Chelsea's wedding in April. We hope we find a cat
clinic there just like yours!

National Dress Up Your Pet Day

Willie wants to remind you that tomorrow is National Dress Up Your Pet Day!  Willie wonders what his mom has in store for him to wear?

Endangered Panthers

WOW, Willie had no idea that the Florida panther is considered and endangered species by federal and Florida state law, with only 100 to 160 panthers remaining in the wild. Willie thinks this statistic would change dramatically if the Florida panther became acceptable as a national household pet like Willie!

National Dress Up Your Pet Day

Willie is excited to celebrate national "Dress Up Your Pet Day" this Saturday, January 18th! . Willie wonders how this day differs from all of Willie's other days?  Willie should be well purracticed by then!

More of Willie's Feline Diet Tips

Willie got a little behind this week but wants to continue his plight to educate all his feline furriends about proper weight management in cats. Handy tips for cats include feeding regular, measured portions of cat food multiple times daily instead of free feeding (Willie cannot believe he is actually posting this) and encouraging regular excercise (Willie would purrsonally rather nap). Willie apologizes for his struggle with his alter ego!

Willie's Post Holiday Dieting Tips

Willie has learned today that cats require higher levels of proteins and fatty acids in their diets. Willie has also learned that the nutritional strategy for dieting is to reduce calories, increase protein and LIMIT PORTION SIZE! Willie believes there is a reason the word "diet" is spelled "die" with a "t" at the end of it....

Willie's Feline Fitness Tips

Part of Willie's start to the New Year involves sharing with all his feline FB furriends the importance of feline fitness. Willie cannot believe that recent statistics show an estimated 35-40% of adult pet cats are overweight or obese (according to a recent article published by Cat Fancy Magazine). Willie wonders if there could be a need for a new reality show hosted by Willie called "The Purrfect Loser"!

Willie's Overindulgence of Holiday Fancy Feast

Reality has just hit Willie today! Willie got on the scale and realized that he probably overdid it in the Fancy Feast department over the holidays. Willie is looking for ways to shed his excess holiday pounds. Does Willie's furriends have any suggestions?
